Anchoring the city of Glenville, our county seat, is Glenville State College. The College offers four year degree programs as well as two year degrees and also includes a Community and Technical College.  As the only four year Liberal Arts institution within a 65 mile radius, Glenville State serves a ten county area.

    Nestled in the hills of central West Virginia, Gilmer County High School is one of the more rural counties in the state and enrolls 568 students in grades 7 through 12. Please peruse the Education Links of this site for more information on the Gilmer County Public School System.

   The Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center, located on Route 5, offers today's students quality training in an up-to-date facility. The Career Center uses various techniques of teaching, (including textbooks, work-based learning and hands-on training) that encourages all students to achieve higher academic standards while focusing on a program of study. In addition, the center offers adult education programs and classes.
